Crimble Mill and the wider mill estate
Benefits
The proposed development of c.220 homes at Crimble Mill will provide a range of social, environmental and economic benefits including:

Safeguard the long term preservation of the Grade II* Listed Mill and the wider mill estate. Providing public access to the mill and exhibition space showcasing the heritage of the site.

Provide a boost to Local Authority revenue. Once complete, the proposed development could generate £438,000 in increased Council Tax receipts per annum.

Supporting 143 direct FTE construction jobs per annum and 180 indirect and induced FTE jobs in the supply chain and related services per annum throughout the build period

Delivering £23 million of Gross Value Added (GVA) (economic output) per annum throughout the construction period

Generating additional expenditure in the local area, including £12 million of one-off first occupation spend and £3 million of ongoing net additional expenditure per annum created by new residents and retained in the LPA. This additional expenditure has the potential to support 28 FTE jobs in local shops and services

Providing biodiversity net gain across the site which will result in enhanced environments for wildlife. The enhancement and protection of these habitats also has social benefit as local communities will be able to experience these natural benefits of the scheme.

Improving and providing a network of public rights of way across the site through an agreed PROW strategy that will see permeability of the site and enhanced connection along the river corridor and to nearby public spaces such as Queens Park.
