Crimble Mill and the wider mill estate
The Proposals
The proposals represent a significant opportunity to safeguard the Crimble Mill estate in the long term through the conversion of the mill and redevelopment of surrounding land for residential development with a small element of commercial floorspace.
The Applicants will soon be submitting a full planning application and Listed Building Consent for the development for the restoration, part reuse and part redevelopment of the existing Crimble Mill complex which largely comprises previously developed land. It includes:

The restoration of the listed mill buildings including the main range, two wings and chimney;

The conversion of the ground floor of the existing listed mill buildings to a flexible commercial and community use;

The conversion of the upper floors of the listed mill building into residential use comprising circa 34 apartments;

The erection of extensions and alterations to facilitate the proposed uses;

The demolition of the existing unlisted mill buildings;
-
The construction of a development platform on part of the site; and
-
The erection of a residential development comprising a mix of circa 31 terraced and detached homes.

Other associated works to facilitate the redevelopment of the mill complex including:

Works required to manage flood risk and flood water flows on the site;

Improvements to Crimble Lane to provide a partly adopted partly unadopted access to the mill complex;

The replacement of the existing road bridge and the removal of the existing footbridge over the River Roch;
-
Works to the retained non-designated heritage assets within the site associated with the main mill complex including the weir, leat / canal, mill pond, river banks etc; and,
-
The provision of land to facilitate a future extension of the adjacent primary school (which does not itself form part of the proposals);

The provision of hard and soft landscaping including wayfinding, footpath improvements, ecological enhancements, the treatment of invasive species etc.

Other associated works including the provision of services, pumping station, sub station etc as required to facilitate the proposed development.

To facilitate and financially contribute to the redevelopment of the mill complex the proposals include the redevelopment of part of the land to the west of Crimble Lane. This will comprise a mix of 150 bespoke homes.
